James Maceo Waldon, 84, of West Palm Beach, Florida, went Home to be with the Lord on October 28, 2022. He was named after his father’s brother. Maceo, as he preferred to be called, was born in West Palm Beach, Florida, on October 17, 1938 to Charlie and Mary Waldon. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in the same city of his birth and played the coronet in the high school band. Maceo enlisted in the United States Air Force (USAF) in 1957 and received an honorable discharge in 1977 after 20 years of service.
Maceo married LaVerne Jones on September 2, 1961 and they had a daughter together, Jameirdre Meshawn Waldon. They were married for 12 years. Maceo married his second wife, Virginia Kwan, on November 30, 1975 and became stepfather to René Kilpatrick, Renne Kilpatrick, Crist Henderson and Stanley Kilpatrick. They were married for 39 years. Maceo also has a son, Anthony Marquis Waldon.
During Maceo’s time in the USAF, he was stationed at various bases, including MacDill AFB, Florida; Clark AFB, Philippines; Kelly AFB, Texas; Elmendorf AFB, Alaska; and Homestead AFB, Florida. After retiring from the USAF, he moved to Los Angeles, California with his second wife, Virginia, where he worked for a brief time as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. He and Virginia eventually relocated back to West Palm Beach, Florida.
After relocating, Maceo started his own car detailing business and also worked at other jobs throughout the years. Maceo was a people person who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Hobbies he loved included checkers, cards and playing the Lotto.
Maceo is survived by his ex-wife, LaVerne Adside; daughter, Meshawn Senior (Paul) and grandsons, Christian, Doran and Aydan; son, Anthony Waldon (Suzette) and grandchildren, Malik, Jamaica, Heavenly and Darius; stepdaughter, Crist Henderson and her children and grandchildren; stepson, Stanley Kilpatrick and his children; stepdaughter, René Kilpatrick’s son; sister Mary Walker; brother, William Waldon; many nieces, nephews and cousins; loyal companion, Lorraine Cannon; and many friends. Maceo was preceded in death by his father and mother, Charlie and Mary Waldon; uncle and aunt, James and Alaine Waldon; aunt, Lula B. Williams; brothers, Charlie Waldon, Jr. and Arthur Waldon; sister, Geraldine Mixon; ex-wife, Virginia Waldon; stepchildren, René Kilpatrick and Renne Kilpatrick; and many other relatives and friends.
