On Wednesday, December 13, 2023, James Griffin Gallagher, age 86, passed away peacefully in his North Palm Beach home. Born in the windy city of Chicago, Illinois on October 20, 1937, James, better known as “Rocky” to his loved ones, began his journey of life with his sister, Felicia Gallagher and late brother John Gallagher. He attended High School in 1951 at St. Leo in Chicago. After graduating, he pressed on to attend 2 years at Loyola University majoring in English. Rocky was an amazing husband to the late Penelope T Gallagher and partner to Diane Neun. An even better father was he to his daughter, Jamie Gallagher, and stepson, Troy Vaccaro. Rocky will be remembered for the selfless, encouraging, and empathetic person he was. The light in the room with that comforting smile, and his eyes that shone with a bit of mischief. He was content with staying to himself, not wanting to get involved in anything unnecessary. But don’t take that as a sign of weakness, he was as sharp as ever and quick to speak up when needed. You could find him out on a boat reeling up something with that nasty hook of his. The beach was his second home and he made his mark on The Keys with yearly trips to La Jolla overlooking Islamorada. If it wasn’t fishing, Rocky would be pulling out the weeds in the yard, fixing up and tending to the mini jungle that was thriving around the house. He was a loyal and active member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles Lodge, and VFW. He would frequently donate to local charities and organizations as well. He was a very giving and reputable man with a heart that loved everyone. Rocky is survived by his girlfriend Diane Neun. His son Troy Vaccaro and wife Katie Vaccaro. His daughter Jamie Duff and husband Ed Duff. His grandchildren Tyla, Denea, Devin, Morgan. His three great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 pm at Royal Palm Funeral Home, 5601 Greenwood Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407. A catered Reception will follow at the same location following the Celebration of Life Memorial Service.
