Ana Luisa R. Arroyo
The Liturgy speech done by Elizabeth Arroyo
(daughter)
This is the life story of my dear mother Ana Luisa Rosario De Arroyo. She was born in
Rio Grande P.R on June 16, 1927 to her 14 yr old mother Ana Vazquez and her 19 yr
old Dad Primitivo Rosario. Ana Luisa was the first born of 10 children and she was
like the mother figure in the lives of her siblings. Her mother was a homemaker and
her father was a meat butcher.
- On January 1948 at the age of 20 Ana Luisa was sent by her father from Rio Grande
P.R to New York City to stay to live with a paternal aunt to work so she could send
her hard earned money back to PR to help her family with their expenses and that
she did for approx 7 years.
- In December 1954 She at the age of 27 was invited to come to a wedding in
Waterbury CT and that is when she met my Dad Alfonso Arroyo Sr who was 22 years
of age. They dated for 6 months and on July 30 1955 my parents married in Bronx
NY because that was her place of residence. They found an apartment and moved to
Waterbury Ct because that’s where my Dad’s family resided at.
- In 1955 to 1956 She worked in a factory making the metal caps for the Avon perfume
bottles and when She became pregnant then I came along in 1956 and she stopped
working for about 7 years but once she started working again, it was non-stop until
she retired in 1992 at the age of 65 years old from Waterbury Hospital as a cleaning
maintenance employee. In 1994 my parents then moved down to live in West Palm
Beach, FL.
- Ana Luisa was a dedicated wife and mother and was always giving a helping hand to
others. At times she had an air of being bossy but deep down she had a very caring
personality. She didn’t drive but she knew how to do arrangements for others and
with God’s help, she would move mountains to get things done. It was always her
way or no way at all ! So there was no way anyone could ever say “No” to her.
- She loved her family and friends; animals, nature and gardening . She loved creating
things with her hands like doing embroidery and wow was she was an excellent
cook!
- As she got older she then came down with symptoms of having dementia and sadly
she became more critical of things and of people which of course drove many away
from her.
- These past 8 years were the hardest for her and for me because her health started
to decline and she needed more hands on care. Being the strong will and
independent person she always was, she just didn’t want to lose the ability of being
in control of taking care of herself and I saw how hard this was for her.
- I thank God though that back in 1996 she became a reborn Christian and as a
believer in Jesus Christ, God has forgiven her imperfections and her sins. Ana Luisa
may you Rest In Peace as our Creator has saved a place for You to be in Heaven
with Him. You My Dear will always be loved and will truly be missed.
- “My home is in heaven and what a wonderful home it will be. Thank You Jesus.”
