BIOGRAPHY:
Aud "Mom" Clausen
Born to proud parents Jorgen and Abelone Gjersvik on the bucolic island of Reksteren in Norway. At 4 years of age she emigrates to the United States with her family and is raised in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York with her siblings John, Evelyn, Astrid, Vivian and Maureen. As a young adult she graduates school and works as a switchboard operator and a secretary at McCall Magazine.
Soon she finds her true calling in life by moving to San Francisco, California, getting married and starting a family of her own. Moving back to New York, they all squeeze into a little house in West Babylon and then a larger home in West Islip. Soon it's a veritable "Brady Bunch" with 3 boys and 3 girls keeping "Mom" on her toes 24/7. She manages to raise loving sons Gary, Carl, Kenny and daughters Lynn, Nancy and Darlene almost single handedly since her husband Roy is a merchant seaman and is gone for 6-8 months at a time. "Mom" selflessly dedicates her life to ensure that her children are well tended to. As grandkids come along, "Moms" life blossoms; Renee, Michelle, Kristina, Justin and Tyler adore her as she does them.
As the kids got older and more self-sufficient, "Mom" finally got the chance to do some of the things she has been putting off. She loves to relax, enjoys cooking new and exotic foods and traveling. She gets the chance to travel back to her roots in Norway and also cruises the Caribbean with her daughters. Life's Good.
She will always be remembered as someone who always put the needs of others ahead of her own. Her selfless dedication to her children and grandchildren will never be forgotten.
