It is with great sadness that we announce that Russ passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on Sunday July 14, 2024 at Scarborough General Hospital. Russ, a lifetime resident of Toronto, was aged 74.
Beloved husband of 53 years to Lina Noble (nee Di Rosa). Cherished father of Richard (Leslie) of Burlington and Gregory of Oshawa. He will be greatly missed by the grandchildren he was so proud of, Simon, Lydia, and Declan. Russ will be sadly missed by his brother, Ralph (Lida) of Toronto, and other members of his extended family. Russ was the son of the late Joyce Dorothy Noble (nee Keen) and William Lloyd Noble of Toronto.
Russ was an accomplished, award-wining Journalist/Editor, spending his career writing for various industry publications including Canadian Consulting Engineer, Heavy Construction News, retiring from Canadian Mining Journal. He prided himself on gaining access to exclusive industry areas, and sharing unexplored stories. A humble man, Russ never sought out the spotlight, preferring instead to cheer on those he loved and cared for. Russ had a wide set of interests that always seemed to be growing as he learned about something new. He appreciated the simplicity of reading the paper, engaging in conversation, and spending time with family and friends. As someone who enjoyed the summer outdoors, Russ was happiest in his pool, at the family’s previously owned cottage, getting his hands dirty in the garden, or simply relaxing at his favourite time, 4pm on Sunday.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Scarborough General Hospital, and in particular, Dr. Tabari, and Dr. Abdulhussein for their kindness and care of Russ during his final days.
Funeral service will take place Saturday August 3, 2024, 11am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 200 Morrish Rd. Toronto. Fr. Francis Folleh, CCSP officiating. A celebration of life will immediately follow at the 258 Highland Creek Branch - Royal Canadian Legion, 305 Morrish Rd. Toronto, from 12-4pm. Internment will take place with a private family service at a later date.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Scarborough Health Network Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
