Dearest John! You will always be in my heart mind and soul. You impressed besides me, my kids and my parents. Grateful you have done for our country but also grateful for the moments we have shared together in Holland, the last years; your jokes, smile and always shining at the canadian club when the music started with the pipes
You are a great person, an inspiration of enjoying sharing and cherish moments. We love you dearest John, for that matter we dont ever stop talking about you because we want to keep you alive in our minds and hearts ❤️
When we are looking at the stars at night, you must be the one who will shine the most because you have brighten up so many lives: during the war to fight for an unknown country, you risked your life and after the war the way you are, as person, as veteran enjoying the time in Holland . Monopoly, diet coke, chop chop, comme si comme ca,  will always be linked with you by my kids.
We cherish the moments and we feel privileged to have met you and to be a part of our life

I was privileged to meet John and his family a number of times at commemoration services in the Netherlands, and one glorious spring day fora veterans lunch at Canada's Official Residence.  He was such a kind and lovely man - quiet but determined. I imagine it's how he served in WW2, getting the job done without fuss or expectations of glory...  A true Canadian hero.   
He will be greatly missed.

We are thinking of you during these difficult times. John was a soldier  w ho loved serving his country.  Of the many times we  worked

together  selling poppy`s he loved meeting people and sharing a few memories of his war time experiences. It was a pleasure to  listen


as he explain all his medals to  people in total amazement of the countries he fought in. A real soldier to the end.  John may you rest in peace.

It was a privilege and honour to escort my Father in Law, Capt. John Stanley MacLeod to return to the Netherlands, here at Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery, September 2018 .

It was a privilage to have met John in the Netherlands in September 2017 and 2018 whilst taking part in the Veterans trip to Holland with my father Reg Charles 1st Oxford and Bucks LI (53rd Welsh). Love and prayers to all the family. Sheila Harding and Reg Charles

Privileged and honoured to have spent 11 days with John and his family on his last trip to the Netherlands in September. His legacy will never be forgotten and will always be remembered. My thoughts are with John’s family and friends at this sad time.  I will be raising a toast to him on Thursday in the Netherlands with a few of his friends from the trip.  Rest in a peace John.
