Rouge Valley Centenary Hospital. John was born in Glace Bay Nova Scotia to the late Colin & May McLeod. He was one of 10 siblings - 3 brothers and 6 sisters.
Predeceased by his wife Nancy (2010) from Edinburgh Scotland. Forever remembered by his daughters Debbie (Paul), Lynne (Marcel) and grandsons Ryan and Josh, his siblings, nieces, nephews and friends.
In 1947, John founded Royal Canadian Legion Branch 209 in Arvida Quebec. He always enjoyed visiting his brother Art and family in Chicoutimi Quebec and his dear friend Patricia Hrycko in Arvida Quebec, reminiscing about the Good Old Days working at Alcan, family picnics and fishing in the Saguenay River.
A WW2 Veteran who stood proudly among 'Our Boys' on many visits back to the Netherlands. He returned on September 24, 2018 from a memorable trip commemorating the 74th Anniversary of Operation Market Garden with 18 other Veterans. He was honoured to return to Italy on 2 occasions 'Keeping the Memory Alive' and attending 70th Anniversary events marking the Italian Campaign. Will be deeply missed by his Dutch friends and fellow Veterans.
A special mention to the Loftus family for their kind support and ongoing help along with Veteran Affairs who provided him with great assistance.
A Celebration of Life will be held in January 2019.
