Joshua "Josh" James Kuehn, 42 of South Yarmouth, passed away December 13th due to complications from Covid-19. He is survived by wife Julianne, daughter Zoey, mother Dale Viprino, father Danny, grandmother Dolly Walter, brother Barry Viprino, his wife Meredith, their children Dahlia, Imogen, and Gregory Dino, sister in law Amanda, and niece Caeleigh Podolske.
A beloved husband, father, and friend, Josh was born in Hollywood Memorial Hospital in Florida, spent every summer on Cape before settling in Brewster in 1994. He attended Nauset and Cape Cod Tech. He was very athletic where his passion lay in surfing. He had wonderful opportunities to ride the waves in California, Hawaii, and would regularly have a partner in the family dog Jessie, who would protest if left behind to surf in Eastham. He was proud to be a volunteer for the Brewster Fire Department and has loved to draw since a child.
In 2002, he met his soulmate Julianne, they built a life together and were rarely seen apart, attending concerts, and traveling extensively before becoming a family of three in 2005, along with their cats. There was never a fall that passed without a trip to the orchard for apple picking, a memory held dear by his girls. It was no secret how much he loved his wife and daughter. It seemed to radiate from him, you could feel it just being near him.
He worked as a landscaper, built modular homes with Weatherbee Construction before pursuing his dream to become a tattoo artist. He apprenticed at Stain of Cain in Wareham and in his kitchen before honing his craft with Gale Winds Tattoo in Falmouth. He found his home with Mark Corliss at Spilt Milk Tattoo and Gallery, where they quickly became brothers.
He spent 14 years creating his art for friends, family and customers. His art graces the skin of people around the world, some who became like family, especially Brad and Jayne Harper .
Besides his creative endeavors and spending time with his family, he loved to don his "Jim Bones" persona and participate with the Pirates of the Cape and Rogues Armada all over Southern Massachusetts. He shared his love of Star Wars and pirates with his daughter. Music was always present in his life, and an enormous bond with his wife and friends. He loved to gather his friends, open his home to them, and surround himself in laughter and love. He will always be remembered as a kind, selfless, compassionate, boisterous teddy bear who was the light in the life of his family. To say he will be missed is an understatement, a bright star has been extinguished too soon.
There will be a celebration of life at Doane, Beale, & Ames, 260 Main St., West Harwich on Sunday, December 19 from 2-5. In the spirit of Josh, feel free to don your pirate regalia.
