James Porter Shea

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our brother and dear friend Jim on Monday, September 25th, at his home in Brewster. Jim was born in Brockton on December 8th, 1961 and was the youngest child of the late Robert Marino Shea and Barbara Edith (Gabriel) Shea.

Jim was raised from a young boy on Cape Cod and graduated from Harwich High School in 1980. He was widely known for his unfailing work ethic and was employed for many years selling home construction supplies, starting in the stockroom and eventually becoming a manager for Riverside Millwork Company (RIVCO) and more recently as an inside salesman for pre-hung doors and windows at Hinckley's Home Center, both in Harwich. Jim was a voracious reader and always had a paperback in his hands. As a fanatical New England sports fan, he enjoyed watching "his" Red Sox and Patriots whenever they were broadcast and owned an extensive sports memorabilia collection. Jim was also a passionate Beatles fan who was able to belt out any song (out of earshot) when it was on the radio and answer any trivis questions on the "Fab Four". Jim also had a large collection of wristwatches and was a lover of classic TV shows.

In addition to his parents, Jim is predeceased by his daughter, Jamie Ann Pavao, and brothers Robert M. Shea, Jr., and Michael R. Shea. Jim is survived by a granddaughter, Brooke Amber Louise Herold of Sterling, and siblings Pamela of Yarmouth, Joanna of Harwich, John of Harwich, and Chuck of Weston; nephews Jeffrey, Sean, and Benjamin; nieces Sarah, Nichole, and Brianna; aunt Margaret Fennell of Harwich; and several grand nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life in honor of Jim on Saturday, October 7th, from 1-3 pm at the Doane, Beal, & Ames Funeral Home, 260 Main St. (Rt. 28), West Harwich.
