Frances P. Shea, 92, of Harwich Port, MA passed away peacefully on December 26, 2021. Fran was born on August 6, 1929, in Worcester, MA to Frank and Callie Murphy. She graduated from North High school and went on to graduate from Katharine Gibbs School, Boston. Fran married Richard T. Shea in 1951. After raising her family of six, Fran worked as a secretary for the Worcester Public Schools primarily at Burncoat Middle and Burncoat High Schools.
Fran and Dick moved to Harwich Port in 1988. She was active in her parish, Holy Trinity serving in the Ladies Guild. Fran volunteered with the Harwich Garden Club and enjoyed bowling with the Nauset Newcomers Bowling winter league in Orleans. She and Dick spent winters in Naples, FL during their retirement years.
Fran was happiest when “Fran’s Place” was filled with her immediate and extended family. She was a true Matriarch of the Shea family who could often be found at Fran’s Place after a day at the beach or for a holiday gathering. She was extremely proud of her family and left all with wonderful memories.
Fran is predeceased by her siblings, Anne of Worcester, Jean of California, Peter of Brewster, Charles of Ohio, Phil of Brewster, Callie of Pittsfield and her son Philip of Yarmouth. She is survived by her husband Dick, sister Sarah, Daughter in Law Shelly, sons Daniel (Maryellen) Richard and Francis (Carolyn) of Harwich Port, son John (Sara) of Worcester and daughter Christina (Dan) Schadt of Brewster. She leaves grandchildren Trevor, Quinn, Ryan, Katie (Jay), Bailey, Aislinn (Stephen), Owen, Peter, Erin, Meghan, Danny, Caitlin, Callie and Cristin. She leaves her great-grandchildren, Mason, Declan, Brynn and Jack.
The family thanks Ionara, Simone, Valeria, Roberta, Andrea, Judy and Hospice nurses Lucy and Barbara who professionally and warmly cared for Fran during her last 6 months. She was able to live in her home and die peacefully with dignity.
A funeral mass will be held Friday, December 31, 2021 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, West Harwich at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at a time convenient for the family. In lieu of flowers Contributions may be made in Fran’s honor to The Family Pantry of Cape Cod.
