Terry Heller, 90, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the Iowa Jewish Senior Life Center in Des Moines. A Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2014 at St. Augustin Parish with entombment at Resthaven Mausoleum.
Terry was born June 15, 1923 in LeMars, IA to Ben and Marjorie (Kelaher) Heller. He was a school bus driver for Des Moines Public Schools and a member of St. Augustin Parish where he ushered for 50 years. Terry was a U.S. Navy Veteran during WWII, serving on a submarine. He enjoyed fishing, bingo, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.
Terry is survived by his wife, Jeanne Heller of West Des Moines; four children, Tim Heller of IN, Mike (Tracy) Heller of West Des Moines, Pat (Julianne) Heller of MN and Heidi Heller of WA; eleven grandchildren, Jessica, Danielle, Robby, Riley, Sophia, Olivia, Chandler, Abby, Ben, Sam and Ellie; nephew, Tom (Margaret) Henrich of LeMars; niece, Ione (Bob) Perry of Omaha, NE and sister-in-law, Margie Iles of LeMars.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at McLaren’s Chapel with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to Blank Children’s Hospital Cancer Fund.
