It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Robert “Bob” Sieman, 78, on Friday, November 4, 2022 at Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines followed by mass at 10:30 a.m.
Bob was born February 5, 1944 to Viola and Stanley Sieman in Chicago which is where he spent his early years. He moved to Des Moines to attend the School of Pharmacy at Drake University before meeting his wife, Loretta (Tursi). They recently celebrated 58 years of marriage and 62 years of being a team. They moved back to Chicago where he practiced Pharmacy and then decided to become a physician. Bob attended Des Moines University and did his Family Practice and OB/GYN residencies in Syracuse, New York. They returned to Iowa with two sons, Brian and Kevin and settled in Des Moines where he practiced with Dr. James Kelso before joining The Iowa Clinic. Upon his retirement, Bob joined the New Leaf Wellness program as Medical Director until the last few weeks.
Bob was always proud of his family and were always first in his thoughts. It was very difficult when Kevin passed unexpectedly but he enjoyed watching and following Brian in his broadcasting career with the LA Clippers.
Bob will be missed by his wife, Loretta; son, Brian (Amy); grandsons, Finnegan and Henry; sister, Joan (John); and nephews, Tim (Carla) and Danny.
The family is especially grateful to Dr. Tom Buroker, Dr. Dick Deming, Dr. Kevin Cunningham along with other colleagues and EveryStep Hospice that assisted through his cancer journey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
