Robert Lee Gaston, 67, passed away Monday, November 13, 2023. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. with a funeral service following at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
Bob was born April 20, 1956 in Des Moines to James and Ellen (Honsinger) Gaston and grew up in Valley Junction. He graduated from Valley High School and then went on to be a Union Carpenter. Bob loved cars, cooking (he was great at it), boating on the river, Budweiser, and NHRA drag racing.
Bob is survived by his wife of 33 years, Carolyn; siblings, Sue Cruzan, Dick (Ronda) Gaston, Cathy McCormick, Mary Rose (Dick) Ludwig, Joe Gaston, and Julie Dubansky; several nieces and nephews and in-laws; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Chet and Irene Gaston; and in-laws.
