Kirstie Kae Stifel, 55, passed away peacefully in her home on January 8, 2021 in Urbandale, IA surrounded by her family. A Celebration of Life will be held at McLaren’s Chapel on Saturday, January 16, 2021 from 2 to 4 P.M. Due to COVID, masks are required.
Kirstie was born to John and Karen (Larkin) Brooks on September 23, 1965 in Ames, IA. She will be most remembered by her love of being a mother, and creating memories with her children, family, and friends. Kirstie was an avid Iowa State fan, and loved to spend her fall Saturdays in Ames, Iowa. Animals were a big part of her life, and going on walks with her dog, Zeus, was a favorite activity. She had a strong Christian faith, and loved attending Lutheran Church of Hope in WDM. Lastly, cardinals were very significant to her, so please know that when you see a cardinal out, this is Kirstie’s way of saying hello.
Kirstie is preceded in death by her father, John Brooks, Grandpa and Grandma Brooks, Grandpa and Grandma Larkin, Uncle Donnie Larkin, and Uncle Charles Larkin. We find peace and comfort knowing that there was a beautiful reunion when Kirstie met the gates of heaven.
Kirstie is survived by her mother, Karen Brooks; children, Madison Stifel, Morgan (Matt) Friend, Coleson (Megan) Stifel; her brother Michael (Sara) Brooks and her niece Reagan; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Kirstie’s hospice nurse, Terry, for going above and beyond caring for Kirstie during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Urbandale Food Pantry or AHeinz57 Pet Rescue and Transport.
