Judith Ann (Ware) Wilson was born on April 26, 1941 in LeMars, IA, the oldest of three children born to Elmer and Myrtle (Witt) Ware. She passed away on May 21, 2023. A private memorial service will be held at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines, IA. A celebration of life will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2023 at the Jester Park Nature Center in Granger, IA.
In 1959, Judy married Kenneth Lowell Wilson, Jr and they had three daughters. Judy graduated from Washington High School in Cherokee, IA in 1959. She attended Morningside College and later The Ohio State University, where she graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 1972.
She began her career as a teacher in Cedar Falls, IA and continued teaching when the Wilson family moved to the Des Moines, IA area. She retired from Norwalk Community Schools.
Judy bred and showed award-winning dogs. She was a member of the American Shih Tzu Club, where she served as a Board member, the Tibetan Terrier Club of America and local organizations for those breeds.
Left to remember her with love are her three daughters: Laurie (Bob) Ihry of Chandler, AZ; Susan (Jim) Sorge of West Des Moines, IA and Chris (Mike) Huch of Kalispell, MT and Chandler, AZ; grandchildren Andrew (Victoria) Sorge of Minneapolis, MN; Kathryne Huch of Irvine, CA; Dylan (Nichole) Huch of Mesa, AZ and Connor Sorge (Natalie Dayton) of West Des Moines, IA; great-grandson Levi Huch of Mesa, AZ and honorary great granddaughter Mika Dayton of West Des Moines, IA. Judy also will be remembered by her sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Lowell Wilson, Jr, in February 2023.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Urbandale Public Library Foundation or the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
