Jerry A. Brandow, 83, of Ankeny, IA, passed away Tuesday, December 3rd. A funeral ceremony will be held on December 10th at 1:00, with visitation on December 9th from 4 to 7 at McLaren's Resthaven, West Des Moines.
Jerry was born June 10, 1941, in Des Moines, IA, to Lafayette & Alberta (Overholser) Brandow. He attended Des Moines schools graduation from East High School with the class of 1959.
He was a Deputy Sheriff for Polk County for over 30 years. After retiring, he drove a school bus for Saydel Schools and then a courier for Unity Point Lab.
He married Ruby Golightly Chase on April 27, 1974, and they made their home in Ankeny.
Jerry enjoyed the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club. One of his hobbies was keeping a well-manicured lawn.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Ruby; his sister, Judi Albaugh Burch (husband Riley); his daughter, Tammy Heckart Kautz (husband Corey); and his stepson, David Chase (wife Mary). He has four grandchildren: Dustin Chase, Dillon (wife Hailee) Chase, Jaydin Chase, and Conner Heckart. He also has two great-grandchildren, Paisley and Dawson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
