James “Jamie” Frederick Deal, 57, died July 1, 2022 when he was struck by a motor vehicle while riding his bike. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2022 at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with entombment at Resthaven Mausoleum.
Jamie was born November 18, 1964, to Max and Eva Deal. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mark Lutheran Church and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Des Moines. Jamie graduated from Valley High School in West Des Moines and from the University of Iowa. While in college, he was a member of the Johnson Co. Jazz Band. Jamie loved to play his trombone, jazz music, and riding his bike of which he completed many RAGBRAI’s.
Jamie is survived by his parents; brothers, John (Karen) of New Orleans, Damon of West Des Moines, and Morgan (Tiffany) of Clive; nephews, Max and George Deal of Clive; aunts and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel; cousin, Lori Walker; uncles; and grandparents.
Memorials can be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice and the family asks for you to keep them in your prayers.
