James “Jim” Adams, 86 died at home April 17, 2014 in the arms of his loving wife and children. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Jim was born May 29, 1927 in Mercer, MO, the youngest of ten children, to Octavia and James Monroe Adams. Jim married the only love of his life, Gerrie Roe on December 25, 1952. In 1962 he started Adams Masonry, Inc. and retired in 1991 turning over the business to his son, Marlo. Jim was always known for his tomato patch and loved to give tomatoes to anyone he met.
Jim is survived by his wife, Gerrie; sons, Mark (Janis) and Marlo (Jennifer); daughter, Jodie (Scott) Conrad; nine grandchildren, Angie, Mark T., Shana, Beki, Shane, Mason, Mady and Sam; and four great-grandchildren, Zack, MJ, James, and Aiden.
