Charles “Chuck” William Wells Sr., 78, passed away August 4, 2024. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, August 12, 2024 at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
Chuck was born January 20, 1946 in Madison, WI to Norman and Elizabeth “Betty” (Bergen) Wells. He graduated in 1964 from Dowling Catholic High School. Chuck owned the Westport Lounge, Lynn’s on Broadway, and Lynn’s on Merle Hay in Des Moines. He retired from Armstrong Tire and Firestone. Chuck enjoyed golfing and was known for his unique swing and hitting many trees on the course. He loved Christmas, cavatelli, Iowa State Cyclones, Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Lynn; children, Kelly (Jason) Victor and Charlie (Andi) Wells; five grandchildren, Dylan, Erin and Evan Victor, Ryen and Will Wells; siblings, Marianne (Ken) Botts, Jim (Trudy) Wells, Richard (Sheila) Wells, Kathy (Randy) Stanford, and Norman Wells; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and many friends.
Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
