Charles (Jerry) Clark, 78, died early Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m.,Thursday, March 5, 2015 at McLaren's Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines, Iowa.
Jerry was born September 30, 1936 in Des Moines the son of Charles A. Clark and Myrtle Green. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961, and served at West Point in the Army Corps of Engineers. He earned his instructors badge in bridge building and demolition, and was a member of the U.S. Army Rifle Team.
Jerry had a 40 year career at Corn States Metal. He belonged to Sheet Metal Workers Local #45 for 60 years and was a member of Gnemeth Masonic Lodge #577. He was in the Quarter horse business with his second wife, June for many years. After retiring from Corn States, he and his current life partner, Kathy co-founded Daydreams.
Jerry was a dedicated son, father, brother, and friend. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, loved his Chesapeake dogs, and was an avid reader. He loved to tinker on cars, tractors, jeeps, and anything mechanical. He was crazy for any auction and was an avid collector.
Jerry's ready smile and quick wit endeared him to everyone he met. He was quick to lend a hand to anyone and was loved by one and all. By no means can this great man's life be summed up by this quick bio, so please join the family at McLaren's in remembrance 11 a.m. Thursday.
Jerry is survived by his life partner, Kathryn Fiedler; children, Elizabeth Clark Yamin (Gregory) of West Hills, CA, Charles W. Clark of Eagle Rock, CA, Erick A. Clark of Des Moines, and Jeffery D. Clark (April) of Van Meter, IA; grandchildren, Max and Emma Yamin, Lee and Luna Clark; brothers, Larry Green (Barb) of Stanhope, IA, Gary Green (Michaline) Stanhope, IA, and Fred Green of Des Moines, IA.
