Bruce Edward Willison, 74, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2022. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2023 with a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines. Burial will be at the Iowa Veteran’s Cemetery.
Bruce was born to Max Bert and Gail La Verne Willison on March 17, 1948. He was raised in Norwalk, Iowa and was an avid sports player growing up excelling at basketball, track, football, and baseball. Bruce spent most of his life farming and participating in sports before serving in the U.S. Navy for 6 years during Vietnam. He belonged to UAW 450 and the American Legion. Bruce worked as an inspector at John Deere in Ankeny, Iowa for 32 years. Bruce easily earned the respect and admiration of his John Deere colleagues as he was very good at his job and was very active as a steward in his local union. For entertainment, Bruce loved biking, fishing, gardening, and sports, especially his Iowa Hawkeyes and New York Yankees.
Bruce is survived by his two children, son, Mark (Suzy) Willison; daughter, Laura Kraynak; grandchildren, James, Shelby, and Tanner; brother, Lynn (Carol) Willison; nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives.
