Brian was born July 28, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to Cecil and Marjorie (Covault) Baker. He grew up on a horse ranch and his love for horses grew as he competed in professional horse riding competitions all over the United States winning trophy’s and ribbons. He graduated from Lincoln High School. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree from S.W. Missouri State University. After graduating, he became a buyer for Younker’s department stores. Brian was known as a master gardener. He was very meticulous about his lawn and made sure everything in his man cave/workshop was clean and tidy. His passion was to tinker and building things. He liked to figure out exactly how things worked. Brian was a champion dart player and won tournaments all over Iowa and in the United States.
Brian is survived by his son, Brant (Vanessa) Baker and daughter, DeAnn (Brent) Knoot; grandchildren, Lexus, Leah, Brock, Paiven and Tate; brother, Randy Baker; sister, Barbara Baker and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, family request that memorials be directed to the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden or to the Gray’s Lake Park and Meredith Trail Fund.
