Beverly Jan Garrison

She was born on July 28, 1938, in Ada, OK to Kenneth and Wanda Andrews. She graduated from Ada High School and attended East Central University where she met her husband, Ed.

Jan and Ed started their lives in Oklahoma City and relocated to Des Moines, 50 years ago for Ed’s career in the insurance industry. Jan and Ed spent 62 years together until he passed away in 2019.

Jan was a busy wife and mother to her four boys, Randy, Dan, Jeff, and Cory. She had several jobs around the Des Moines area but her last and best job was at Drake University where she was a beloved “house mom” in one of the dorms.

Over the years, Jan enjoyed playing golf, being active with her P.E.O. chapter, entertaining friends, and being with her family. Jan spent her last years at Morning Star Assisted Living where they cared wonderfully for her as she dealt with Alzheimer’s.

Jan is survived by her sons Randy Garrison of Denver, Colorado, Dan (Debbie) Garrison of Georgetown, Texas, Jeff (Angela) Garrison of Winterset and Cory (Amy) Garrison of West Des Moines, and their families including eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; her brother Ken (Sharon) Andrews, niece Laura (Shane) McDonald, nephews Bruce Andrews and Thomas (Melissa) Andrews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ed.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 1415 28th St. #430, West Des Moines, IA 50266.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Morning Star Assisted Living and Hospice of the Midwest for their loving care, compassion, and support.

Jan will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Ed at Resthaven Cemetery following a private family service.
