Barbara was born February 13, 1927, in Woodward, IA to Caroll and Dessie (Hurst) Roby. Barbara married her childhood sweetheart and love of her life, Francis, in 1946 when he returned home from the war. She worked for many years at Sears in the auditing department. In her younger days, she enjoyed golfing, fishing, and boating with her family. Barbara's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She was passionate about gardening and attending to her flowers. Both she and Francis took great pride in having a well-manicured yard. It was regarded as one of the prettiest in the neighborhood.
Barbara and Francis were fans of the Maple Street Jazz Band and they enjoyed dancing to their special song, “I Left My Heart in San Francisco”. They also loved watching the Lawrence Welk Show every Saturday night.
The family would like to thank Altoona Nursing and Rehab and Wesley Life Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Barbara.
Barbara is survived by her son, Denny; daughter Linda Welder (Sam Cunningham); grandson, Jason (Tori) Welder; great-granddaughter, Bella; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Francis; and her mom and dad.
