Jaydene Ruth Thomas

Jaydene Ruth Thomas, our loving Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma passed away on March 22, 2020, at age of 86. She was born on August 3, 1933 in Alhambra, California to Valton Bray and Ruth Taylor and was the eldest of eight children. In 1955 she met and married the love of her life, Allen Dee Thomas, who proceeded her in death. They spent 57 years in the San Gabriel Valley raising 4 children, 13 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

Mom was an Irish girl through and through – impish, sassy, and with a great abundance of tenacity of purpose. She loved to teach, learn, and provide opportunities to others to grow. She wanted her children to experience life. Though she possessed those incredible qualities, there are three things that best would describe Mom’s many wonderful attributes: she was creative, had great faith, and she loved her family. Mom’s artistic creativity was found in just about everything she ever did – from an illustrated cutout in a Sunday School lesson to her skill at cake decorating and incredible oil painting skills. Her faith was unshakeable, even up to the end of her life, she put her trust in the hand of the Lord and worked to align her will with His. Her faith impacted her family, and as such has had an impact on hundreds of lives coming to know their Savior’s love. What she loved the most was to be around her family and to hear of their successes, that was what made her truly happy. These, and many more, attributes will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her. We LOVE you Mom!

Jaydene is survived by her children Allen Jr. (ALeeca), Vallen (Wendy), Starene (Rob), Dorene, and their families; along with her five sisters and two brothers.

The family will hold a small graveside service. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park – Covina Hills. With the desire to be sensitive to the current health outbreak, the family will be planning a memorial service at a later date to celebrate Jaydene’s incredible life. That memorial will be announced via social media.
