Our father was a good man. He was very sociable, loved talking to people and generally a friendly person. He always tried to help others, especially family and friends, to achieve their goals & prosper in life. Giving advice about important life decisions like education, starting a business or relationships.
My dad was a “ Jack of all trades “, example he was heavy truck driver for Desmond’s, owned a chevron station in Los Angeles. Mostly worked as a Chief Steam Engineer for Hospitals like Queen of the Valley and Santa Marta Hospital in Los Angeles. Then later a owner operated truck driving business and later the muffler business.
He worked most of his life, finally retiring at 78 years old. He provided well for his family. We grew up in a nice home and in a good neighborhood, with good schools in West Covina California. He helped us to achieve our goals in life and always encouraged us to be successful.
I will always cherish the memories of our family outings, like camping on the beach, campfires, the smell of bacon and pancakes in morning, riding mini bikes, and motorcycles. Going to church every Sunday all dressed up and later lying on the living room floor watching the roadrunner cartoons with our Dad and laughing a lot.
We were fortunate to have caring and loving parents. Most of all I we will miss my father dearly, who was always there for us, giving his advice and helping all his children through rough times and good times. I pray that when when Jesus comes back to raise those that are sleeping in the ground, that we will all see our father, again.
His father was Domingo Reyes & his mother Carmen Monroe. He had 3 sisters Eleanor, Aida, Norma and 1 brother Raul. They lived on West 43rd street, Los Angeles California. My father graduated from Mt. Carmel High School ( private all boys Catholic school) on Hoover street in L.A., California, in June 1949. He was involved in different clubs and activities at school including boxing.
Later my dad meet my mom at a youth club dance, during high school and according to mom, it was love at first sight. Later, after my father joined the US Army, they got married in September 1951 at Saint Columbkille Catholic Church.
They later bought their house in West Covina California in 1954. Michael and Linda were already born, then later Arthur Jr., Steven and Ronald.
Still living in West Covina about 68 years, later.
A funeral service for Arthur will be held Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 10:15 AM at Funeraria Del Angel West Covina, 2333 West Merced Ave, West Covina, CA 91790. Following the funeral service will be a graveside at 1:15 PM at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, California 94102.
