Elisabeth Conrath, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2013 in the presence of family at Avalon Square in Waukesha, where she had been a resident the past 4 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Herman and her sister Helen Swanson. She is survived by her children Jutta (Paul) Leiske, Carol-Anne (Arthur) Wallner and Eric (Sandra) Conrath, her 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild as well as two nieces and a nephew.
Elisabeth was born in Haldensleben, Germany on August 18, 1918 to Franz and Helene Steller. She immigrated to the United States in 1949 from her beloved Berlin, which she always fondly remembered. The family lived in the Milwaukee area where Elisabeth was an active member of Sherman Park Lutheran Church.
Elisabeth was employed at Wisconsin Drill Head Company for many years. After retirement, she and her husband moved to New Port Richey, Florida where she belonged to the German American Social Club of New Port Richey and attended Asbury United Methodist Church where she was an active choir member for many years. Elisabeth was also an avid bowler; she had been a member of many bowling leagues, both in the Milwaukee area and in New Port Richey. After 37 years in Florida, she moved back to Wisconsin in 2009 and resided at Avalon Square in Waukesha. She truly enjoyed life at Avalon Square and participated in many activities, expecially baking cookies, Wii bowling, Dominoes, Bingo and many other social functions.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Prairie Home Cemetery Chapel, 605 S. Prairie Ave., Waukesha at 11:00 AM with Pastor Doug Schoen of Elmbrook Church presiding. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Avalon Square, 222 Park Place, Waukesha, Wisconsin.
The family gratefully thanks Dr. Caryn Brownell, the staff at Avalon Square and Season's Hospice for their kind and compassionate care given to Elisabeth.
