Stephen was a devoted father and husband; his children were the center of his life. He had an energetic spirit, a giving heart and lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed the simple things such as; pizza, Dr. Pepper, coffee, playing basketball, ping pong, swimming and drumming. He also loved BMW's and ride motorcycles. Stephen had the utmost respect for his loving grandparents, who raised him.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Laura Alaniz; son Brandon Jason Alaniz; daughter Kendra Delilah Alaniz; and daughter Vinivy Madison Alaniz; mother Mary Yolanda Alaniz; father-in-law Esequiel Navarro and mother-in-law Rebecca Navarro; brother Ryne Anthony Ponce, brother Randy Aaron Ponce, brother Robert "Bobby" Armand Ponce, sister-in-law Brenda Lee Navarro, brother-in-law David Navarro and brother-in-law Esequiel Navarro Jr..
Stephen was preceded in death by his ; cousin Scott Hartung, grandfather Manuel Alaniz and grandmother Delia Ramirez Alaniz.
Visitation Services for Stephen will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Highland Funeral Home located at 6705 N FM 88 in Weslaco, Texas. A Chapel Service will be held Thursday, April 16, 2020 at 10:00 AM followed with the Entombment at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco, Texas, Officiating will be Pastor Eva Hernandez.
Serving as pallbearers are Ryne Anthony Ponce, Randy Aaron Ponce , Richard Alaniz, Robert "Bobby" Armand Ponce, Freddy Bocanegra, Jammar Taylor, Dr. Leo Thacher and Joe Herrera.
