Mary graduated from Weslaco High School in 1980, where she formed lifelong friendships and met her high school sweetheart, Alejandro Aguirre. The couple married on March 17, 1984, and together they built a loving family, blessed with four beautiful children.
Mary began her professional journey working for the City of Weslaco. Her passion for learning and teaching led her to pursue higher education. She attended college and earned her bachelor’s degree in Education from UTPA in 2004. She joined WISD as a teacher in 2005, a role she cherished until her passing. Her commitment to her students and her enthusiasm for teaching made a lasting impact on many young lives.
Mary's legacy lives on through her children: Alejandro Aguirre Jr., Christopher Lee Aguirre (married to Evana Renee Treviño), Ashley Nicole Aguirre, and Audrey Aguirre Rangel (married to Andrew Joseph Rangel). She was a proud and loving grandmother to her five grandchildren, Ava Mae Rangel, Adriana Fox Aguirre, Ezra Alejandro Cruz, Elisa Sofia Aguirre, and Abram Andrew Rangel, each of whom brought immense joy to her life.
Mary is also survived by her mother, Josefina Ramos Huerta, her sister, Olga Huerta Reyna; her brothers, Salvador “Chava” Huerta III (married to Gracie Huerta) and Eric Arevalo; and her half-sister, Letty Huerta Guerrero. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alejandro Aguirre; her father, Salvador Huerta; and her half-brothers, Freddy and Albert Huerta.
Mary was more than a mother, grandmother, and teacher; she was a beacon of love, kindness, and a pillar of strength to her children. Her warm smile, bubbly personality, and generous spirit touched the hearts of everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Although Mary faced many trials in life, her faith in her Father God never faltered. Her loved ones find solace in the knowledge that she is now in the embrace of our Lord God and Savior. As they remember Mary, they celebrate a life well-lived and a legacy of love that will endure forever.
A visitation for Mary will be held Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Highland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 6705 North Fm 88, Weslaco, Texas 78596. A prayer service will occur Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A chapel service will occur Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 10:00 AM. A burial will occur Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Highland Memorial Park, 6705 North Fm 88, Weslaco, Texas 78596.
