Daddy was born in Mercedes, Tx and grew up in Weslaco. He lived with his mother, and uncles. Once he graduated from Weslaco High School in 1955, he moved to Bryan, Tx. Then he, his wife Carmen, and his daughter Juanita moved to Corpus Christi, Tx in 1966.
He started working at CPL electric 06/30/1966 and was a meter reader. He worked his way up through the company with his final position being in the Purchasing department as Senior Buyer until his retirement on 09/30/1994.
He loved to cook, bake, bar-b-que, and garden. He loved to spend time with his 4 granddaughters and with his 3 grand dogs and grand cat.
Federico is survived by his beloved wife, Carmen E. Alanis, his daughters Juanita Alanis Garza (Fernando Garza), Angela Alanis Norman (Matthew Norman), his granddaughters Erika Rae Garza, Denisse Lisette Garza, Anna Cristina Martinez (Ramon Martinez) and Fernanda Nayelli Garza (Andres Moncada), his grand dogs Pocket and Scooter and grand cat kiKi Lee. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Along by his cousins Juan Tamez Velazquez, Rene Closner, Belen Closner, Jose Rene Closner Jr., Abby Russell and numerous nieces and nephews.
Federico is preceded in death by his parents Modesto M. and Angelita L. Alaniz, maternal grandmother Vicenta G. Longoria, uncles Narciso, Jose and Isidro Longoria, cousin Lupita Closner along with other aunts and his first grand dog Riley.
Serving as pallbearers are Matthew Norman, Fernando Garza, Ramon Martinez, Andres Moncada, Christian Garza, David Garza, Richard Meyers and Jose Rene Closner Jr..
A visitation for Federico will be held Friday, February 9, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Rosary recited at 7:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Highland, 6705 N. FM 88, Weslaco, TX 78599. A chapel service will occur Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 10:00 AM, followed by the interment at 11:00 AM at Highland Memorial Park, Weslaco, TX 78599. Catering is to follow immediately after the burial, back at the funeral home from 12:00-2:30PM.
