William "Slim" Gerard

He was a WWII Army Veteran where he received the WWII Victory Medal and the Army Occupation Medal-Japan. He retired as a custodian with the Lacassine Schools. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his daughters, Joe Ann Benoit and husband, Paul of Sulphur, LA, Geraldine Marcantel and husband, Bobby of Iowa, LA, Debbie Biello of Lacassine; brother, John Gerard Jr. and wife, Mary Joyce of Lacassine, LA; sisters, Loneda Fuselier of Lacassine, LA, Dorothy Begnaud and husband, Robert of Lacassine, LA, Anna Grace Trahan of Lake Charles, LA, Martha Benoit and husband, Garland of Lake Charles, LA; 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Boudreaux Gerard; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

His funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at St. John Catholic Church. Rev. Roland Vaughn will officiate. Burial will be in Lacassine Cemetery. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home in Welsh on Monday from 2-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. til time of service.
