Roger "Shane" Richard

Shane loved fixing up his ratrod and classic cars. He and Donna traveled to many car shows and had an array of trophies for all his "hard" work. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix. He had an unbelievable compassion for any and all dogs. Shane had a big personality and even bigger heart especially for the Red, White, and Blue.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Donna Menard Richard; three children, Shannon Richard and wife Tessa of Hathaway, Brandi Cox and husband Wayne of Jennings, and Buffi Himel and husband Reggie of Lacassine. His pride and joy "13" grandchildren who lovingly called him "POPS", Brody, Brylee, and Brayden Richard; Seth (Brooke), Sadie, Clay, Kyle, Hudd, and Keri Cox; Allie, Archer, Jayci, and Hunter Himel. One Brother Jamie Richard of Marksville; one Aunt Marie Kleem of Texas and his sweet furbabies Otis and Lucy Lou.

He is preceded in death by his parents; little brother, Terry Richard; mother and father in law, Velma Jean and Archie Menard; and his best gal boxer Jolee.

The family will welcome relatives and friends on Monday, April 11, 2022 at Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the time of services with a rosary to be prayed at 12:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be immediately following in Pine Island Cemetery. Rev. Keith Pellerin will officiate at the services.

Pallbearers will be Mike Hannon, Reggie Himel, Shannon Richard, Wayne Cox, Seth Cox, and Brody Richard.

The family would like to give a special thanks for the wonderful care given from LA Hospice and Palliative Care and the compassion of Luke Guidry, Dr. Molly Thomas, and Dr. Peri Prelop.
