Devin "Devo" Chad Meyer was an old soul. He was a one-of-a-kind, pure-hearted man who loved his family more than the entire world could ever know. He was always the one to call upon when anyone needed anything. His ability to not say “No” was a blessing and a curse. His loving heart and soul were contagious as was his laugh and personality. His aura was so definitive that he could turn a room right side up in seconds.
Devin was the person any and everyone loved to be around. At the start of his early years, Devin was an amazing artist and prided himself on the creative gift that God gave him. He was able to look at something once and draw it perfectly. His freehand artwork was jaw-dropping to see. It wasn’t until he had children that life had given a whole new meaning of it to him. Although young, he did whatever he had to do to give his children the best lives that they deserved. Devin prided himself on being a father more than anything and was so proud of his children.
Devin also found a love for anything that the outdoors could offer, from hunting, fishing, frogging, camping, horseback riding, running crawfish ponds, you name it. He loved to be a countryman. He also found the love of rodeo and bull riding, and he would never stop talking about it. Devin was also a man of many skills and abilities. Anything that anyone needed to be done around the house, to fixing a vehicle, he could do ANYTHING. His capabilities were mind-blowing to anyone who knew or met him. The house he raised his family in was built with his own two hands. Every single inch.
Devin worked hard to provide and he never failed at it. Devin loved showing his son the “country boy” ways, teaching him everything he needed to know. Also, his taste for Cajun culture was something he could never get tired of. So much so, that became the bond he and his daughter shared through playing the accordion together.
Devin was a dedicated father and son, and was he a “momma’s boy”. Devin knew he could always count on his mom for anything. She will always have a special place in his heart. Above all, Devin was such an inspiration to others. His entire life, he always wanted to do more. He could make you laugh, he was the shoulder to cry on, the one who was one call away, a good time, and was the light on the darkest day. He was always right there for the ones he loved and he always made that known. He would drop anything for the ones he cared for and that’s what made him so genuine.
Devin was definitely an angel sent from God, that nobody could ever replace.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, John “Sam” Meche, and his wife Elizabeth “Belle” Meche; and paternal grandparents, Charles Meyer, and his wife Agnes Meyer.
Those left to cherish his memory are his two children, Kalie Brook Meyer and Kendall Bryce Meyer; the mother of his children, Christina Adaway; his parents, Bernadette Meyer, and Darrell Meyer; siblings, Crystal Nicole Meyer (Ross Kittrell), Brandon Meyer and wife Jessica Meyer, and Justin Meyer (Claudia Parsley), and numerous nieces and nephews whom he cherished.
The family would like to welcome friends for visitation on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Hixson Welsh Funeral Home at 10:00 am. A rosary will be recited at 11:00 am, with funeral services held at 1:00 pm.
a graveside service will be held at Bon Pasteur Cemetery following services.
