Carol Ann French, 75, of Wellfleet, MA, formerly of Cincinnati, OH died peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on Wednesday July 13, 2016. Born in Indianapolis, IN to the late Allison Piel & Marthabelle (Bond) Koelling, Carol lived in Cincinnati, OH before moving to Wellfleet 16 years ago.
Carol completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at Butler University in Indianapolis, IN and was an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She continued her education taking classes in Library Science at Northern Kentucky University. Carol was a librarian with the Hamilton County Library system in Cincinnati, OH for many years.
Carol was an active member of her community. She was a member of the Friends of the Wellfleet Libraries, and the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary where she worked with others to save and defend endangered species. She also was a volunteer at the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theatre. Carol enjoyed playing Mah Jong, and she loved to read, especially British mystery novels. Carol loved to travel and enjoyed several trips overseas with her husband, Dick. She also was very artistic and took local classes in needlepoint, beading, white line work, and other forms of crafting. Above all else, Carol adored her family and enjoyed being a grandmother.
Carol is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years Richard A. French; her loving son Dan (and wife Yun) French of Watchung, NJ; her adored daughter Amanda Lee (and husband Lawrence Averill) French of Salt Lake City, UT; her dear brother Wayne (and Linda) Koelling of Indiana and her sister-in-law Cheryl Koelling of Cincinnati, OH. Carol was proceeded in death by her brother Randy Koelling. Carol also leaves behind her two cherished grandchildren Ian and Abby French, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and Relatives are invited to attend Memorial Services on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 11 am at the Wellfleet United Methodist Church in Wellfleet, MA followed by a reception at the Pamet Club in Truro, MA at 1:30 pm. A private burial will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA, the following day.
