Rita was a stay at home mother until she divorced and worked at Kroger's. She later worked at Harris County Veterans Administration until retirement. Rita was a member of First Methodist Church , Pasadena, Texas and Society of St. Stephen's. She enjoyed traveling with her grandchildren and church group. Rita also enjoyed playing Bridge and Bunco.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Milton Archibald Ferguson & Pearl Estelle (Hart) Ferguson; brother, Milton Pollard Ferguson; and ex-husband, Edwin Brixton Parker. Rita is survived by sister, Karen "Cookie" Bearers and Jerry; children, Rhonda Nabors Pagan and Eddie, Kasandra Hennan, Debra Moorehead and Samuel, and Marcus Parker an Karla. She has 12 grandchildren, 27 1/2 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Forest Park East Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Cheryl Smith officiating. A committal service will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Jerome Moorehead, Andrew Parker, Allen McConnell, Jayden Hayes, Ryan Cassy and Bobby Dunlap.
