It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Patsy Ruth Robertson on Thursday, May 11, 2023 after being placed in Hospice care. Archie, her beloved husband of 51 years, was at her side when she left this earthly plane to spend eternity with Jesus. They had recently moved to the Brookdale Clear Lake Senior Living facility in Webster, Texas.
Born the youngest of four on February 18, 1930, in Alma, Arkansas to Jefferson Lafayette and Flo (Cole) Savage, Pat lived there until age seven before her family moved to Raymondville, Texas. Her grandfather had purchased a section of land for each of his ten children in Raymondville, and Pat’s family settled there as farmers.
Pat grew up attending the First Baptist Church in Raymondville with her family where she became a Christian at age 10 and began singing in the choir. Pat dearly loved hymns and could be heard singing up until her passing.
After graduating from Raymondville High School, Pat attended Baylor University, where she majored in Education and Spanish with a minor in Bible and English. She was a diehard Baylor Bears fan and followed the football program faithfully. She received her BA degree and later went on to earn a Master's degree in Education from Sam Houston College in Huntsville.
Pat taught at Navasota Elementary School after graduation and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Navasota, Texas. She also taught eighth graders in Sunday School and sang in the choir. Pat moved to Houston, Texas after being hired for a teaching position at Southmayd Elementary School. She joined Second Baptist Church and was a member there until the church moved across town. She transferred to Park Place Baptist, where Archie Robertson, her future husband, was also a member.
Pat and Archie met in 1965 and were married two years later. Pat taught for 47 years before retiring due to a hip fracture. She loved retirement and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jack Savage and Judson Savage. She is survived by her husband, Archie Robertson and sister, Mary Helen Brinkley along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews that she loved dearly.
Pat was an avid Astros fan. She loved seeing her flowers and the birds in her back yard. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and collecting lighted Christmas houses. Pat will be remembered for being a fierce prayer warrior, her kind heart, a lover of cats and her love of teaching. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
It was Pat’s wish that no funeral or memorial be held.
