Mary Ann Fisher Holt, 89, passed away on October 27, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas after complications from long-term dementia and a recent fall. She was born to Avery Joshua Fisher and Florence Eunice Fisher on February 22, 1932, in Robeline, Louisiana. She lived most of her adult life in the Houston area but moved to San Antonio four years ago.
Family and friends were Mary’s passion and delight. She grew up with three siblings in various farming communities in northern Louisiana. She was raised by her father and older sister after her mother passed away when she was only seven years of age. As a young girl, she developed a personal relationship with Christ while attending Central Baptist Church in Robeline. Her faith never wavered over the years, and those convictions were evident to all.
In 1949, at the age of seventeen, Mary married the love of her life Bobby M. Holt shortly after he returned from service in the U.S. Navy. Within a year, their first son was born. By the time she was twenty, Mary had three more sons. Seven years later, she had her fifth and last child, her long-awaited daughter, Lisa.
Mary and Bob were founding members of University Baptist Church in Clear Lake where they shared their faith and social life with numerous friends. Mary was very active in her church. When younger, she was an enthusiastic member in the church choir. She loved painting landscapes, collecting American cut glass, traveling extensively with her husband, enjoying family outings, and she treasured entertaining family and friends. Mary and Bob were married for nearly sixty years before his passing in 2008.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Bob Holt; her parents, Avery & Florence Fisher; her sisters Floy Fisher and Florence Marjorie Stewart; her brothers, Billy Joe Fisher and Hugh Avery Fisher; and her granddaughter Stacy Holt Arguelles.
She is survived by her five children; Dan and wife Loyce of San Antonio; Randy and wife Sarita of Austin; Ron and wife Barbara of Pearland; Don and wife Judy of Tulsa; and Lisa and husband Bob Kaczmarek of Houston. Additionally, she is leaving behind nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren with one more on the way, and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service on Monday, November 22, at 10 a.m. in the chapel at Forest Park East Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, TX 77598. Following the service, there will be a brief graveside ceremony for interment.
The family wishes to thank the staff of The Haven at Stone Oak in San Antonio for their loving attention and excellent care of Mary as well as all those who faithfully lifted her up in prayer over the last few years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to University Baptist Church, 16106 Middlebrook Drive, Houston, TX 77059 or to your favorite charity.
