Mr. Garcia was born February 7, 1950, in Mercedes, Texas to Eulalio Garcia and Virginia Madrid. He was married to Lupe for 49 years.
He attended Mission High School in Mission, Texas. He later joined the army, serving in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star. Mr. Garcia worked for the US Postal Service for 28 years before retiring on August 1st, 2005.
Johnnie had a green thumb and could grow just about anything. He enjoyed the outdoors and could often be spotted exploring the waters on one of his kayaks. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Guadalupe Garcia; son, Johnnie Garcia; grandchildren, Cade, Cole and Sarah Garcia; brothers and their spouses, Bernardo and Yolanda Garcia, and Jaime and Lina Garcia; and several nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Madrid; father, Eulalio Garcia; brother, Eulalio Garcia; sister, Antonia Ochoa.
Arrangements are with Forest Park East Funeral Home and Cemetery.
A visitation for Johnnie will be held Saturday, June 25, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home with a funeral service following at 3:00PM. A committal service will take place at 4:00 PM.
