Joe Allen White, 77, of Houston, Texas passes away on Friday, June 4th, 2021. He was born in Taylor, Texas on January 27, 1944 to Raymond and Johnnie Mae White.
At an early age he accepted Christ and was baptized at First Baptist Church in Taylor, Texas. Later on in life he united with Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Inc. and served with the Usher and Greeters Ministry.
He was a graduate of O.L. Price High School in Taylor, Texas. He moved to Houston, Texas and was later drafter into the U.S. Army on Jun 28, 1967. His rank was Sergeant. While he was in the service, he was awarded a badge of Combat Infantryman, a medal for Vietnam Service, W/4 Bronze Service Star. During this time serving our country, he became a Sharpshooter (Rifle). Sgt. Joe A. White was also awarded a medal for the National Defense Service. On June 27, 1969, Sgt. Joe A. White was honorably discharged. During this time in the military, he met and married Sheryl Sanford. In this union one daughter was born named Precious.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Johnnie Mae White, and his wife, Sheryl A. White. He is survived by his daughter Precious Simon; two grandchildren Lauren and Dennis Simon; one brother Raymond White; one sister Esther Grice (R.C.) and a host of relatives and friends.
