“Papa Joe”
Joe Edward Summers, age 87, of League City, Texas, died Thursday, September 20th, 2012 in Webster, Texas. Joe was born on Jan. 18th, 1925 in Okemah, Oklahoma to John Edwin (Daddy George) and Lola Josephine (Mama Jo) Summers. Joe was preceded in death by his son Michael Joe, who passed away in 2007, and his son-in-law Douglas Holmes, who passed away in 2003. Survivors include his wife of 69 ½ years, Leota Marie (Sissie) Summers of League City, sister Mary Sybil Melton of Longview, Texas, daughters Sharon Kay (Sherry) Holmes and Donna Jean Martin, both of League City, son-in-law Charles Martin of League City, as well as 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
