James Lee Hundley “Jim,” of League City, Texas was born January 18, 1945 in Houston, Texas and left this world to live with our Heavenly Father on October 1, 2020. He was loved by all whose lives he touched and he will be missed.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents James Jackson Hundley and Ellen Lee Leslie, grandparents Allen P. Hundley and Verle Hundley, and Edward P. Leslie and Florence Leslie.
Jim is survived by Brenda McGough with whom he had an amazing 41 year relationship, his sister, Carol Hundley DeMattos (Carlos), of Cedar Hill, Texas, niece Kimberly Ann McFadden of Fate, Texas, nephew Robert Milam of Campbell, Texas. He is also survived by Madison and Aidan McFadden and Hayden Milam, his grand-niece and grand-nephews, numerous cousins and friends. He also leaves behind sister-in-law Cindy Rhodes (Monte) of Sterlington, Louisiana, brother-in-law Hugh McGough (Debbie) of Benton, Louisiana, and also nephews-in-law Casey Rhodes (Callie) of Friendswood, Texas, Patrick McGough (Polly) of Allen, Texas, Tyler Rhodes (Stacy) of Sterlington, Louisiana, Morgan McGough (Margaret) of Benton, Louisiana. Great nephews and niece Houston, Brady, and Eva Rhodes of Friendswood, Texas, Peter and John McGough of Allen, Texas, Riser and Lawson Rhodes of Sterlington, Louisiana, and Wesley Bogan of Benton, Louisiana.
Jim was in the insurance business and later was in the beer business. He is credited with introducing Coors beer to the Houston area.
He was also a hunting and fishing enthusiast who taught those skills and enthusiasms to his nephew, Robert Edward.
Jim loved trap and skeet shooting and had participated in the sport since he was 16 years old. He belonged to the Houston Gun Club, Dallas Gun Club, Grand Prairie Gun Club, and Arlington Gun Club, where he won numerous first places and trophies at their competitions. He was also a member of Friendswood United Methodist Church.
Jim was extremely gregarious and charming with a fabulous sense of humor and a warm loving heart. We will miss him until we see him again.
Graveside service will be held Sunday, October 4th at 11:00AM at Forest Park East Cemetery located at 21620 Gulf Freeway Webster, Texas 77598. Pastor Gale Towns will be officiating.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Casey Rhodes, Robert Milam, Patrick McGough, Morgan McGough, Robert Edward “Robbie” Milam, Hugh McGough, Aidan McFadden, and Michael Allison.
