James Riley Campbell age, 94, of Montgomery, TX. passed away November 20, 2023. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on September 25,1929 to Charles White and Mary Teresa Campbell. He was married to Mary Ellen Campbell for 64 years.
Throughout his 94 years he worked for the Railroad, Borden's Milk Company, Avis Truck Rental, Muse Airlines, Century 21 Real Estate, U.S. Postal Service, and Red Wing Shoe Company. He was a veteran of the United States Navy aboard the USS Boxer (CV21) Aircraft Carrier as a radio operator from February 17,1948 thru January 25,1952 and received an Honorable discharge.
He was a member of the South Houston and Humble Masonic Lodges. He had a passion for his family, church, Bible Studies, dancing, fitness, tennis, reading, shuffleboard, all sports, and going to the beach.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, son Cary, daughter Holly, parents Charles and Mary, brothers Charles and Lon, sisters Mildred, Beatrice, Dorothy, Hope, and twin sister Joyce.
He is survived by his daughter Lynn and husband Daniel; grandson Joshua and wife Courtney, and great-grandson Caleb; grandson Shaun and wife Leah; son Chris and wife Sue; grandson Bynum; grandson Coy and wife Keisha, and great-granddaughter Magnolia; son Tracy; grandson Jake and wife Julianna; great-granddaughters Evelyn and Olivia, and great-grandson Nolan; sisters Darlene Brown and Shirley Smith and many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by many extended family members and friends.
A visitation for James will be held Friday, December 1, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm and his funeral will start at 2:00 pm and a committal to follow. All services will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 21620 Gulf Freeway in Webster, TX.
