George transitioned to the Everlasting Kingdom of Glory, on Thursday November 3, 2022, joining his beloved Grandson, Travis Ryan ; his Mother and Father, Mary Helen Davis and James B. Malone; his siblings, John, James, Charlotte and Chris. He is survived by his wife of almost 61 years, Lee Ann, son and wife, Drs. Daniel Lee and Paula DeForest; and daughter-Sharon Denise DeForest Monroe.
He graduated Stephen F. Austin HS, class of 1949. He served in the USAF during the Korean conflict (non-combatant). He continued his education at the U of T. and later went to work for S.I.P.Engineering, Inc. (now Worley Parsons). He retired in 1999 as Control Systems, Design Supervisor.
He and Lee Ann met each other rather uneventfully over their sack lunches in the communal dining room where both their employers occupied. They were married on Thanksgiving Day In 1961. George embraced Lee Ann’s son Dan and daughter Denise as his own. He lovingly, as the only father figure, has guided and nurtured them thru their lives and was always proud of them as children and the adults they have become. He also was confirmed at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church where the family attended. He has been a blessing to the Church as he took on many roles there during those 60+ years.
He held a special place in his heart for his grandson Travis, and they shared a special love and bond together. They are together now and laughing!
George was a “joiner” and occupied his time with activities in Lion’s International, District 2S2 and the Space City Lion’s Club for 56 years. His particular interests were Sight and Hearing Preservation, Awareness and Action. He held many positions within the Club and District Level, receiving many rewards and Commendations of which he was proud.
He will be missed by many. He always had a helping hand, first for family and then his fellow man.
