Emmett was born to the late Emmett and Gwen Golden, Sr on June 7, 1938 in Galveston, Texas. He married the late Joyce Wooley and they lived together in Galveston, Texas City, and finally settled in League City. Emmett had various jobs on the Galveston water front and started his career as a shop inspector for Southwest Fab while training to become a state boiler inspector. Once he completed his training, he went to work for over 35 years at Hartford, where he retired in 2007. He then went to work for Bureau Veritas Company, which is now OneCIS Insurance, up until his passing. Emmett coached all of his children in many sports, including being an intricate part of starting Texas City Youth Football. At different times of his life he was an avid photographer, golfer, fisherman, and jeweler.
Emmett is preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, his parents, son, Robert Golden, and brother-in-law, Otis Chambers.
He is survived by his four children Chuck and Joyce Golden of League City, David and Cindy Golden of League City, Pamela Golden of League City, and Patricia and Billy Threadgill of Pearland, his 10 grandchildren, Billy and Amanda Threadgill Jr, Marie Watkins, Jessica and Ryan Hernandez, Sandi Edwards, Christopher Edwards, Darrin and Rachel Watkins, Brandon Threadgill, Alley and Josh Matamoros, Justin Golden and his girlfriend, Alyssa Walker, and Brooke Threadgill, and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Carol Ann Chambers of Santa Fe, and was "Uncle Frog" to numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by family friends, John Washington, Tony Pisarz, and Cal Dauer.
Pallbearers include Billy Threadgill, Jr., Brian Edwards, Randy Chambers, Mark Chambers, Tony Pisarz, and Cal Dauer.
The family will be excepting friends and visitors Tuesday at 6:00pm, with a rosary starting at 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:00am, with a burial immediately following, all at Forest Park East Funeral Home, Gulf Fwy, Webster TX 77598.
