He graduated from Foy H. Moody High School in Corpus Christi, class of 1970. And he served in the US Army from 1972-1974 and worked at H.B. Fuller from 1979-2012 when he was medically retired.
David was humorous and laughed all the time with a constant smile on his face. He was loving and caring, having fun with family and friends at gatherings. He made sure to leave an impression on you with his humor, wit, and charisma. David was artistic with drawings and paintings. He was also a hard worker as a mechanic, rebuilding cars, with woodworking and as a gardener. He enjoyed his bowling league, baseball league, and played golf. Basketball and football were his favorite sports to watch on television anytime of the year.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alicia Cantu and Alberto Cantu and brothers Alberto Cantu and Arnulfo Cantu.
David is survived by his loving wife of 47 years San Juanita Cantu married December 27, 1975; daughters Adriana Marshall with husband Chad Marshall and Vanessa Thompson with husband Terrell Thompson; 8 grandchildren Robert Flores, Damond Lowe, Kane Marshall, Brianna Marshall, Jade Lowe, Telia Thompson, Terrell Thompson II, Tiara Thompson; siblings Elsa Fuller, Linda Gomez, Alberto Cantu, and Arnulfo Cantu; nieces and nephews Mark Gomez, Melissa Gomez, Bryan Gomez, Debra Mendoza, Abel Fuller, Brenda Fuller, Guy Fuller, Laura Coronado, Sylvia Rivera, Daniel Gibbs, Sarah Gibbs, Raul Vela, Jr., Maria Vela, Raquel Vela, Gloria Vela, Maricruz Vela, Israel Vela, Claudia Vela , Roberto Vela, Jr., Maria Vela, Adrian Vela, Elle Alaniz, Elizabeth Alaniz, Emily Alaniz, Martin Alaniz, Jr., Dwayne Cantu, Denise Cantu, Omar Cantu, Steven Cantu, Timothy Cantu, Genevieve Cantu, Jeff Cantu, Darrell Cantu, Chris Cantu, Eric Cantu, Sarani Cantu, Jonathan Cantu and Jeremiah Cantu.
A visitation for David will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will occur on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. with a committal and reception to follow. All services will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home and Cemetery in Webster. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared below for the Cantu family.
