Cruz J. Silvey, 88, of Santa Fe, Texas went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ her Savior on November 20, 2022. She was born in Marfa, Texas on May 19, 1934 to Victor and Raquel Jiner. She married the love of her life, Jerry Silvey, in 1957. Jerry and Cruz began their life together in El Paso, Texas. After Jerry retired, they moved to Santa Fe, Texas in 2006.
Cruz was a homemaker and prior to that worked at the Custom Assay Office in El Paso, TX. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, ceramics, traveling and going to gospel music concerts with her husband. They attended Kemp Street Baptist Church and later the First Baptist Church in El Paso, Texas.
Mrs. Silvey’s loving husband Jerry passed away in 2016 after 59 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 6 siblings and one daughter, June Silvey.
Cruz is survived by her son Charles and daughter-in-law Wendy of Winona, Texas, daughter Jill and son-in-law Marshall Bartee of Santa Fe, Texas and son Scott and daughter-in-law Lisa Ramos of Kyle, Texas. She also dearly loved her six grandchildren: Elise, Reagan, Holden and Bryton Silvey, Megan Bauer (and husband Enoch) and Jenna Bartee; and four great-grandchildren Abraham Bauer, Obadiah Bauer, Declan-Davis Bauer and Genesis Bauer.
A visitation for Cruz will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM with a service to start at 11:30 AM. A committal service will be held at Houston National Cemetery at 2:00 PM. The cemetery is located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive. There will not be a funeral procession to the cemetery, but each person may drive to the facility and then stay right after entering until lining up in entrance lane 1.
