Bonnie S. Baker-Hill, age 88 of Pasadena, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2019. She was born to the late Curtis Jackson Shelton and Belva Guffey Shelton on November 1st, 1930. She was preceded in death by all her siblings and their spouses, Donald Q. (Calla Mae) Shelton, Oleda Emerine Mills, and Hazel (Virgil) McKinley.
Bonnie had a High School Education and made the most of it. She sold magazines all across the United States, as a young woman. Later, when she became a single parent, she chose a new career, as a Grocery Cashier. She worked in Pasadena and then in Houston, by the Astrodome for 44 years. She worked with a great group of people, who became lifelong friends.
There were two attributes that really stood out about Bonnie. First, her faith in God. She loved our Savior. Second, she never met a stranger. She was never afraid to tell anyone about Jesus. She always carried Dr. Jon Redmond’s booklets with her to share with others.
Bonnie was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Pasadena. Sunday was her favorite day of the week. She looked forward to worshipping and visiting with friends.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hill, of 33 years, and step-daughter Barbara Hill. She is survived by children, Syble (Mike) Moore, Donna Green, Robin (Jack) Chichester, Robert Baker, Janet (Gary) Woodward, and Michael Hill. She also leaves behind numerous beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Bonnie’s granddaughter wrote this about her Grandma, “My Grandma was truly an independent woman who showed the world what it meant to have grit. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren more than anything and always made sure that we were all taken care of. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.”
We would like to extend a personal thank you to Sylvia Tucker and Rebecca Christensen for assisting in the care of our mom these past eight months. Their assistance was invaluable.
