Mr. Charles David Toombs

TOOMBS, Charles D., 72, of St. Louis, on December 7, 2011 died peacefully at home. Beloved husband for 50 years of Gloria E. Toombs (nee: Strimple); dear son of the late James and Pansy “Peggy” (nee Par Lee Jack) Toombs; loving father of Ray Toombs, Chris (Kelli) Toombs and Jana (Marc) Toombs-Stachurski; beloved grandfather of Kegan Jones, Burke Stachurski and Jackson Toombs; dear brother of Diane Boulware, Bob Toombs, Judy Hendricks, Joy Toombs, Mike Toombs; dear uncle and friend to many.

Charles was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Following his service to his country he worked for Anhauser-Busch as computer programmer and eventually became the head of computer programming for A-B. After 30 years with the brewery he retired and enjoyed his retirement until the last couple of years when his health declined. We have special memories of Charles, that we will carry in our hearts for the rest of our lives. His kind generous soul will be with us forever.

SERVICES: Visitation 12 p.m-1 p.m., Monday, December 12, 2011 at GERBER CHAPEL, 23 W. Lockwood Avenue, Webster Groves 63119. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 1p.m in the funeral home chapel. Interment with military honors, 2 p.m. Friday December 16, 2011 in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston TX 77023. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 460 North Lindbergh Boulevard, St. Louis, MO 63141 or the Salvation Army Midland Division Headquarters, 1130 Hampton Avenue, Saint Louis, Missouri 63139.
