HAINES, Ann Louise (nee Pilcher), 70, of Webster Groves passed away on December 18. She devoted much of her life to the benefit of children, as an educator and parent. She loved good food, cooking, reading, travel, gardening, fashion, and design. She maintained a strong circle of friends to the end of her life.
Ann grew up in Houston, TX and Little Rock, AR and was proud to be a Texan. She received her BA from Drury University in 1968, married her college sweetheart, and moved to the St. Louis area where she raised a family and built her career. During her career, she served as a school librarian and teacher in several public school districts, including Winfield, Orchard Farm, and Francis Howell. She earned a Master’s degree from Lindenwood in the 1980s.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Philip Andrew “Andy” Haines, and her son, Peter Andrew Haines. She is mourned by her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren, Meghan Haines, Ben Gielow, Andrew Gielow and Freya Gielow of Webster Groves; sister and brother-in-law Linda Pilcher and Tom Kennedy of St. Louis; stepfather Charles Perrenod of Houston; stepbrother Stephen Perrenod of Bangkok, Thailand; brother Matt Perrenod of New Orleans; sister and brother-in-law Mary and Kerry Gaber of Houston; and many friends in the St. Louis area and worldwide. She also leaves behind her beloved Louie and Martha. Her family thanks all who have offered their love and support during her illness.
A Memorial Open House celebrating her life will be held from 4-6pm on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at the Hawken House 1155 S. Rock Hill Rd.,Webster Groves. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made in her honor to Tenth Life Cat Rescue or Drury University.
