Waynesville, NC – Wilda Cogdill Dean, 94, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Autumn Care of Waynesville, just a few days before her 95th birthday. She was a caring mother and grandmother that loved her family and touched many lives.
Wilda was a native of Jackson County and a daughter of the late Edgar and Della Cogdill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Dean, who died in 2003; a sister Katherine Saunders; and two brothers, Lloyd and Bill Cogdill.
Wilda worked at Wellco Enterprises, Inc. She was a member of Calvary Road Baptist Church and a former choir member; served on several committees and was a Sunday School Teacher. In her community, she was a member of the Hazelwood Boosterette Club. Reading books was one of her favorite hobbies, as well as cooking and making crafts and quilts.
She is survived by a son, Ronnie Dean (Shirley) of Waynesville, a daughter, Barbara Dean Webb (Danny) of Waynesville; three grandchildren, Tammerah Dean Garren (Marc), Cynthia Webb Cook (Kenneth), and Jason Webb (Victoria); and five great grandchildren, Lillian Garren, Noah & Jonah Cook, and Joelle & Jenna Webb.
A private graveside service will be held at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Reverend John Swanger officiating.
