Virginia Ann Underwood

Virginia Ann Underwood, age 78, of Clyde, NC passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. She was born in Haywood County on July 19, 1946 to the late James Walter and Grace Rathbone Jenkins.

Virginia was a devoted wife and mother married for 58 years. Her and her husband lived all over the US during his time in the United States Marine Corp and later settled in Clyde, NC. Virginia retired from Hometrust Bank after 21 years of service. She held many positions including mortgage loan officer, auditor and assistant branch manager. Virginia was a member of Louisa Chapel United Methodist Church in Clyde where she helped handle the administrative duties. She enjoyed camping at Lake Chatuge and going on girls weekend trips to Charleston. She also enjoyed cooking. Most of all she loved her family more than anyone could ever imagine.

In addition to her parents, She is preceded death by husband, James E. Underwood, Jr.; brothers, Johnny Jenkins and James Walter Jenkins, Jr.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Michael Keith Underwood; sisters, Carolyn Haney and Catherine Jaynes; a sister in law, Peggy Jenkins; several nieces, nephews, cousins and her little dog, Ginger.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 pm on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Reverend Jennings Sizemore.
